Spirit of Salt

SPIRIT OF SALT IS HEATHER CLARK LYNN, AN ARTIST, DESIGNER AND DREAMER IN TEXAS.

Working as a graphic designer for over a decade, Spirit of Salt - my business and alter-ego - grew out of my desire to combine my obsession with esoterica, flora and fauna, myths and symbolism with my love of textile painting, pattern-making and the decorative arts, in the style of William Morris and the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements.

I particularly love functional artwork – textiles, homewares and apparel that can be used and lived with. I like to bring a little bit of magic to everyday objects that might otherwise be seen as generic or disposable. 

I also specialize in creating personal artwork that reflects individuals, unique stories and personal mythologies. Whether painting on a beloved vintage jacket or pair of shoes, creating a family tapestry or wallpaper woven with personal significance, or painting a unique piece of art on a leather chair or the side of a building, each commission is a one-of-a-kind collaborative process.

I welcome the opportunity to partner with businesses and art directors on custom illustrations, patterns, murals, artwork and the occasional branding project.
